Good Practice

A framework for high standards and good practice in play, care and education; and running an educational charity

As a registered educational charity, the Early Childhood Project strives to promote good practice in the day to day services offered by the Project but also as an example of good practice in all aspects of its operations like good management, training, documentation, accountability and so on.

We would like to think that all our work within the Project comes under the good practice heading but in reality we probably need to scrutinise all our official documents and guidelines and no doubt re-think some. When a Project has been operating for nearly 19 years, it is easy to become complacent and assume that what was ok years ago is still ok. The Trustees work hard to update our policies and guidelines and they are all on a rolling review.

We have for many years upheld an anti-bias approach to play, care and education in children’s lives. We would urge you to look at the various web sites available and search out for yourselves the book, now out of print alas, that has kept us firm in our resolve to wave the anti-bias flag. “Anti-Bias Curriculum: Tools for Empowering Young Children” (1989), Louise Derman-Sparks. (google her name and be amazed!)
